Definition of Tracheophytes
Tracheophytes are plants which have vascular systems, or networks of tissue which transport food, water and minerals. The vascular system is comprised of xylem, which carries water and dissolved nutrients, and phloem, which transports sugars. Some of these are seedless like ferns while other have seeds such as plants classified as angiosperms and gymnosperms.
